Skin Cells Clestem FB(CST-102)
Fibroblasts are mesenchymal cells derived from the mesothelium, epithelial cells, and endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT). These versatile cells can differentiate and play various roles in the human body, such as remodeling the extracellular matrix (ECM), forming the microenvironment structure of tissues, and regulating immune and inflammatory responses. Despite their high utility, fibroblasts suffer from limitations such as variability in cell condition and short lifespan, making long-term utilization challenging.
To overcome these limitations, CleCell has successfully demonstrated the controlled differentiation of fibroblasts from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), which allows for unlimited and uniform cell production. CleCell is conducting research on the development of full-thickness and epidermis skin models using fibroblasts that can be infinitely produced and have high utility. These models can be applied in studies related to skin aging, wound healing, gene delivery, and skin disorders.
